Transport Program

Sometimes the difference between a horse finding its next home or not comes down to location. Nexus recognized this barrier early on and has made enormous strides to remove the physical distance between a horse – and its next owner! Early on, Nexus piloted a program to move horses between our community and Harmony Equine Center outside Denver, the Humane Society of North Texas outside Fort Worth, SPCA Texas in McKinney, and This Old Horse in Minnesota. These organizations have expansive adoption and foster programs, and had requests for horses that Nexus was able to fill. Taking what we learned, Nexus now is participating in a nationwide program that aims to move up to 300 horses among a group of like-minded, collaborative organizations who help horses find their next right home.
